4 Quick Tips for Green Living

Figuring out the best way to live a “green” life can be one of the toughest obstacles. At times it may seem like the task is insurmountable, with new tools, life “hacks,” and tips coming out almost daily. But there are a few ways to make small changes in your life and around your home to help you get started.

Cut down on energy usage

Unplug devices when you aren’t using them. Things like TVs and computers draw energy even when they are not turned on. Unplugging even a few items around your home may help cut down on energy usage and decrease your monthly bill. Want to do even more? Adjusting your home’s temperature settings when you’re away can also cut down on energy consumption.

Try meatless Mondays

Made famous by Michael Pollen in The Omnivore’s Dilemma, reducing the amount of meat you eat is another way to live a more environmentally-friendly life. You don’t have to go full-vegan, or even vegetarian, to help. Meatless Mondays are a way to cut back on your meat consumption without entirely changing your diet. Cutting meat out of your diet for one day a week helps cut down on water usage, reduces greenhouse gases, and reduces fuel dependency — and it’s happening worldwide. Try foods like pasta, soup or salad, or substitute meat with something like mushrooms or beans in one of your favorite dishes.

DIY green cleaners

The chemicals found in many cleaning products are not only bad for the environment — they’re not great for you or your pets. For an alternative cleaning solution, try mixing one part white, distilled vinegar with three parts water. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant, and is also great at combatting odours. If you can’t handle the vinegary scent, however, you can mix in your favorite essential oils to give your green cleaning solution a custom flourish.

Use eco-friendly products

Many of those always-on devices have eco-friendly settings these days, and the Airmega is no exception. In “smart eco mode,” Airmega will reduce the fan speed and power consumption when the air remains clean for 10 minutes or more. This means you can still enjoy Airmega’s smart sensing functionality without unnecessary energy consumption.

3Aerosol test conducted in a Biosafety level 3 laboratory with two Coway air purifier models, Coway Airmega 250 and 400 for removal of SARS-CoV-2 Aerosol by US based MRI Global, a not-for-profit laboratory and partner of US Department of Defense. The test was conducted in a 13.1ft3 chamber. Virus was aerosolized for 15 minutes and the product was turned on high for 2 minutes. Result showed each product effectively removed over 99.98% of the SARS-CoV-2 in 2 minutes. This is a result from a laboratory experiment condition and result may vary in different conditions. This result does not imply it kills SARS-CoV-2 or prevents the transmission of Covid-19. Coway Airmega 250S and 400S are identical to the tested models and has equal performance with an additional mobile connectivity function.

5The coverage area of the air purifier is based on an area where the air cleaner can make two air changes per hour (ACPH). An air change per hour translates to how many times an air purifier can clean an area, assuming the height of a ceiling to be 8 ft, in one hour. Therefore ** means two air changes per hour means that the cleaner can clean the area once every 30 minutes and * means air changes per hour means that the air purifier can clean the area once every 60 minutes.
