4 steps to getting better sleep during allergy season
Do allergies make you tired, or suffer at night?
If you or a loved one suffers from allergy symptoms, you can sneeze in your sleep, wake up congested, and your allergies may even get worse at night. You already know there's more to airborne contaminants than car exhaust and smoke. When invisible particles like mould spores, pollen, and pet dander are in your air, it can be tough to breathe clear and get a good night's rest. But before you turn to a nighttime allergy medicine, try these 4 effective steps to get a perfect night's rest. You may just unlock the best sleep of your life!
Step 1: Invest in anti-allergy bedding.
For many of us, allergies get worse at night. Dust, pollen, and dirt get into the mattress, and we are forced to sleep with a runny nose. Luckily, bedding with advanced, anti-allergy fabrics that you wash often can help you avoid worsening allergies while you’re trying to dream.
Step 2: Try keeping your pet out of bed.
If you have a pet, and you wake up congested, it may be the family dog or cat igniting those allergies. In addition to your pet’s dander, they may also be tracking pollen, dust mites and mould into your bedroom. For relief, try keeping them off the bed, or move them out of the bedroom.
Step 3: Take a shower before sleeping.
Pollen, mould and dander can stick to your body and hair, so showering ensures a bed that’s free of the contaminants you don’t want next to you. It’s one of the best ways to avoid waking up with a stuffy nose.
Step 4: Add an Airmega to the bedroom.
An air purifier like Coway Airmega, which effectively rids the air of these nano-particles, can be a life-changing upgrade. You can breathe clearer at night, and allergies won’t make you sleepy anymore. The Airmega 150 is an 18-inch purifier with an impressive 214 square feet of effective coverage, and the slightly larger AP-1512HH/S has the same effectiveness in rooms up to 361 square feet. These Coway air purifiers efficiently filter various harmful sources and removes 99.999%* of nano-sized particulate matter down to 0.01 micrometers, which is smaller than most viruses and bacteria.
Here’s what a customer thought after buying her Airmega: “The best air filter. I’ve tried them all as I tend to suffer from allergy asthma. I have a pug who sheds a lot and ever since we switched air filters to this one I have had zero issues. Love it so much we bought one for every room. #highlyrecommended” – Jessica on IG.
*Coway air purifiers have been tested according to the Korea Air Cleaning Association standard on a particle size of below 0.01㎛ and on maximum fan speed in normal room temperature and humidity conditions. According to Airmega 250's test report, 99.999% of 0.01㎛ particles are removed within 12 minutes. (Tested with Airmega AP-1216L, AP-1512HH, 150, 300, 250, 400)
